“Games People Play”, also known as “They Just Can’t Stop It (The Games People Play)”, is a song recorded by American R&B vocal group The Spinners. Released in 1975 from their Pick of the Litter album, featuring lead vocals by Bobby Smith, the song was a crossover success, spending a week at number one on the US Hot Soul Singles chart and peaking at number five on the Billboard Hot 100.

Recorded at Philly’s Sigma Sound Studios, the house band MFSB provided the backing. Female backing vocals on the song were by Carla Benson, Evette Benton and Barbara Ingram. This song was an RIAA certified million-seller for the Spinners. wiki

Back in the late eighties I found myself in van at Dulles International Airport waiting for the band equipment of the Spinners who had flown into town to do several concerts at Xerox Training centre in Leesburg VA. Back in the day Xerox used to fly in big name bands to entertain. The played several concerts over the weekend and I was lucky enough to party with the band afterwards, they were really nice guys.

    1. Sounds as if you had a spontaneous opportunity to meet some real Motowners. I certainly would have enjoyed having your experience. (Sure you did) Personally, I am an opportunist. And, I would say Xerox was a big endorser (1980s)as it made bigger breakings into the tech scene. ❤❤❤❤❤
