“Baby I Need Your Loving” is a 1964 hit single recorded by the Four Tops for the Motown label. Written and produced by Motown’s main production team Holland–Dozier–Holland,[1] the song was the group’s first Motown single and their first pop Top 20 hit, making it to number eleven on the Billboard Hot 100 in the fall of 1964. It was also their first million-selling hit single.

British group The Fourmost released their version of this song, reaching #24 in November 1964. A surviving episode of the trendy 1960s TV music series Ready Steady Go! shows them performing the song.

The Supremes covered the song in 1966 in their The Supremes A’ Go Go album.

The song was recorded by Johnny Rivers in 1967. His version, titled “Baby I Need Your Lovin'”, was released as a single, and became a number-three hit on the Billboard pop chart. It was also performed as a duet by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell on their 1969 album, Easy.

  1. From what I have gathered, they might not have ever recorded it or if they did it stayed in the vaults. Apparently the accepted reason is that it was given to the Isley Brothers. This might be a never ending quest as the item searched for might never have existed, something like the Holy Grail…

      2. Memorabilia Collectors. Specifically Motown and or Four Top collectors would have it. But whatever, the Four Tops’ version is off limits on the internet.

  2. Always loved them, even when I was a child and was more into Beatles and Stones, there was something so catching, so interesting and cool about the Four Tops! Great tune…to me they are the same as Temptations and Supremes…great choice!

      2. Yes…but I don’t know what happened to their song “This Old Heart Of Of Mine”… Rod Stewart and the Isley Brothers tookover the song and there is no evidence that “This Old Heart Of Of Mine” was originally sung by the Four Tops.😰

  3. I saw them in concert in Oklahoma this past February. Sadly, there was only one original Top left. But it was sweet.
